The new Auckland Airport Transport Hub features 8,500m² of perforated aluminium panels, finished in two powder-coated colours.
The lighter upper façade, with larger perforations, creates a hazy, sky-like effect, while the darker lower panels offer sharper definition and clearer views inside – welcoming travellers to the terminal.
Powder coating was crucial in achieving this aesthetic. Beyond colour, it delivers the durability needed for a high-wind, high-traffic environment while maintaining a premium finish across thousands of square metres of aluminium. The panels wrap seamlessly around radiused corners and continue the narrative of ascent and descent, echoing the movements of planes across the runways.
