APG Architects transformed a deteriorating former DB Tavern and church into a vibrant tertiary education campus for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Metwood Dark Cedar was applied to random-width Vulcan aluminium cladding boards over the existing drive-through, delivering a rich timber aesthetic with none of the upkeep.
The warm, natural timber look contrasts against the dark charcoal-painted cladding, emphasizing the new entrance. When placed alongside real timber louvres, the Metwood finish is indistinguishable from natural wood, showcasing its exceptional realism. This modern campus provides an inspiring environment for students to thrive.
