The Sands Papamoa

With a population set to grow by over 25% in the next decade, Golden Sands in Papamoa is home to one of the most ambitious projects in New Zealand; the $1billion plan to create an entirely new town centre.

Stage 1 of the project includes the New World supermarket which uses a mixture of Insol’s Solaris 150x50 and 300x50 aluminium louvres finished in a Metwood Pale New Oak finish, growing in height with the diagonal line of the roof.  The apex of the roof is accentuated with the large louvre blades, which are also used to section the facade by being placed halfway between the apex and the roof edge.  This arrangement is repeated on the other side of the supermarket entrance, effectively guiding shoppers to the decompression zone before they enter the store proper.

The retail block uses a mixture of Insol’s Solaris 125x50 and 300x50 louvres also finished in a Metwood Pale New Oak finish.
